Anxiety Therapy for Women
in Atlanta, GA
Courageous Counseling provides anxiety therapy for women across Georgia through virtual sessions and in-person appointments in the Decatur area.
Anxiety can affect your feelings, relationships, work performance, sleep, and physical health. While occasional stress is a normal part of life, ongoing anxiety can begin to feel emotionally exhausting and difficult to manage alone.
The Weight So Many Women Carry
Anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental health concerns in the United States.
Approximately 1 in 6 U.S. adults (19.1%) have an anxiety disorder (NAMI).
Women are significantly more likely than men to experience anxiety disorders.
23.4% of women experienced an anxiety disorder in the past year compared to 14.3% of men (ADAA).
Many women spend years in survival mode while appearing “high functioning” on the outside. Therapy can provide space to slow down, better understand your experiences, and develop healthier coping strategies.

How Does Anxiety Therapy at Courageous Counseling Work?
Beginning therapy for anxiety can feel like a big step, especially if you have spent a long time trying to manage everything on your own. At Courageous Counseling, we want the process to feel clear, supportive, and centered on what you need.
Your journey begins with a free 15-minute phone consultation with the therapist of your choice. This is an opportunity for you to briefly share what has been bringing you to therapy, ask questions, and get a sense of whether the therapist feels like a good fit. You do not have to know exactly what to say or have everything figured out before this call. It is simply a space to connect and decide whether moving forward together feels right.
If you choose to begin services, you will be scheduled for a 55-minute intake appointment. During this first full session, your therapist will take time to learn more about you, your experiences, and the role anxiety is currently playing in your life. You may explore questions such as:
How is anxiety showing up in your thoughts, body, relationships, work, or daily routines?
What situations, past experiences, or current stressors may be contributing to your anxiety?
What coping strategies have you already tried, and what has or has not been helpful?
What would you like to feel, do, or experience differently in your life?
Together, you and your therapist will identify your goals for managing anxiety and create a personalized plan for therapy. Depending on your needs, treatment may include practical coping tools, exploring unhelpful thought patterns, strengthening boundaries, processing past experiences, and EMDR or other trauma-informed approaches when appropriate.
At Courageous Counseling, we believe therapy should honor your full story, including your identity, lived experiences, culture, and hopes for healing and growth. You deserve a space where you feel seen, understood, and supported as a whole person — not just as a list of symptoms. Our goal is to help you better understand your anxiety, build skills that feel realistic for your life, and move toward greater peace, confidence, and self-compassion.
